🏈 Football Scoring FAQ

How NFL and college football selections are scored on HotStreak β€” touchdowns, tackles, snap counts, voids, and what happens when a player is injured (Injury Shield, sometimes called reboots or injury protection).

Written by Gianni Settino

All scoring of HotStreak entries is based on official league data. If you would like to dispute a payout or how your entry was graded, please include a reference from an official source.

What's an anytime TD? Do quarterback passing touchdowns count as anytime TDs?
No. An anytime TD counts for the player who carries or receives the ball in the end zone (not the QB who passes them the ball).

What is the 1st TD scored? Do quarterback passing touchdowns count as the 1st TD scored?
No. The 1st TD scored counts for the player who carries or receives the ball in the end zone (not the QB who passes them the ball).

The 1st TD scored is for the entire game; it is not team specific.
If there are no TD's scored, the UNDER will win for all players. A defensive or special teams TD can qualify for the 1st TD even if the player who scored the TD was not an offered market. If an offensive player scores the 1st TD while playing on defense or special teams, the OVER will win for that player.

How is the tackles + assists category scored?
Tackles + assists is the combined total of the player's tackles and assisted tackles. If a player has 5 tackles and 2 assisted tackles, he would score a 7 in this category.

What happens if you take a player's over longest reception market, but they do not have any catches in the game? Does this selection void?
This selection would not void. All unders would be paid out and all overs would be considered losses assuming the player played in the game. The same can also be said if you took a player's over longest rushing yards market as well.

Why did my selection grade as a loss when my player didn't record any offensive snaps in the game?
If your player gets any snaps in the game, we will grade your selection regardless of you taking the over or the under. Please note, this includes special teams snaps as well.

What happens if my player doesn't play at all (late scratch / inactive)?
If you placed your entry pregame and your player doesn't get a single snap in the game β€” for any reason, including injury or being inactive β€” that selection is voided.

If, after voiding the selection, your entry still has at least 2 different players from 2 different teams, we'll grade the entry on the remaining selections. Otherwise, the entry as a whole is refunded.

What happens if my player gets injured during the game?
If your player took any snaps in the game, your selection stands and is graded normally on their official stats.

However, if you took the over on a pregame full-game NFL or college football selection and your player left the game with an injury in the first half and did not return, your entry may qualify for Injury Shield β€” a credit in HotStreak Bonus Tokens equal to what your entry would have been worth without that player. (Your entry still settles as a loss; the Injury Shield credit is separate.) See Injury Shield for the full rules.

Some sites call this feature 'reboots' β€” on HotStreak, it's Injury Shield.

What about live in-game selections?
Once a live in-game selection is placed, it stands no matter what β€” including if the player gets injured. Injury Shield does not apply to live selections.
